Life Time drops “fitness” to focus on lifestyle

Life Time Fitness Inc. has made the thoughtful decision to drop “fitness” from the name. Life Time is a Minneapolis based company that has spent 25 years crafting fitness. In June the fitness company dropped “fitness” but has recently dropped it from every legal document. However, they do not want to stop there.

Do you ever wish you could take your personal trainer home with you? Because Life Time wants to make that possible…sort of.Any health savvy person knows health does not stop in the gym. The way a person sleeps, eats, and works all affect a person’s mental and physical well-being.In a Life Time facility, working, shopping and living come together in perfect harmony with fitness in mind.

Life Time is interested in building co-working facilities, similar to WeWork, where members receive perks. Fitness typically goes to the wayside for full-time workers. Life Time Work solves the problem of fitness being a secondary priority for workers. The first Life Time Work is slated to open in Ardmore, PA sometime in early 2018.

Residents of Life Time facilities will enjoy shopping and restaurants without having to leave their apartment buildings. Some locations already contain these benefits while others have health care centers. Healthcare facilities come with a full staff of physical therapists, chiropractors, and doctors.

Unlike dropping  “fitness” from the name, these renovations cannot be done overnight. Bahram Akradi, CEO of Life Time, knows that with 128 facilities in 27 different states, he has a lot of work ahead of him. Not every facility will be a cookie cutter layout because Life Time wants to tailor each facility to the communities’ needs.
