Top 10 Best Cities for Recent College Grads

1000px Littlerockarkansas arkansasriverpano 300x66 Top 10 Best Cities for Recent College Grads

Here’s a list of the best cities for recent college grads:

10. Little Rock, AR

9. Tulsa, OK

8. Dallas, TX

7. Durham, NC

6. Lexington, KY

5. Houston, TX

4. Austin, TX

3. Oklahoma City, OK

2. Omaha, NE

1. Fayetteville, NC

Graduating from college has always been a stressful time. With the economic uncertainty and dismal employment numbers of the last few years, it’s been especially daunting. Educated twenty-somethings, however, are an important market force, one whose tendencies and interests shape the commercial real estate market of the city and region in which they live.

Since the IT and software industries rely upon the young and tech-savvy, it should be no surprise that tech-friendly towns like Fayetteville and Austin make the list. But other towns seem to appear on this list not because they’re technology hubs, but simply because they have a low cost of living or an abundance of entry-level jobs. Recent grads are an important group to keep track of, as they’re movements may indicate where it’s best to invest in multifamily and other property types.

(This ranking is based on the availability of employment and housing, cost of living, and other factors.  This Top Ten comes from a longer list compiled by The Daily Beast.)

Interesting perspective on the top ten. These cities seem to represent emerging market opportunities. They are in regions quite different from the once-booming Sun Belt.
