There are a number of ways to determine the nation’s “top” multifamily markets. It all depends on one’s specialty or investment strategy. Even so, this ranking, based on late-2012 vacancy data from ReisReports, is a good place to start. Here are the Top 10 U.S. Multifamily Markets by Vacancy Rate:
10. McAllen, TX: 2.3%
9. Honolulu, HI: 2.3%
8. Fargo, ND: 2.3%
8. Once more, in case the enormity of the statement hasn’t yet sunk in: Fargo, ND: 2.3%
7. Bellingham, WA: 2.3%

Obama & US Energy Policy
During the 2008 presidential campaign, Jon Stewart observed that Obama, on the subject of racism, “spoke to Americans as though they were adults”. I tend to agree and it proved a pivotal moment for Obama, and the country as a whole (first African American President…etc). In his speech on Monday night, Obama spoke to Americans about the Middle East as adults only in part, but still perhaps better than any president before him. Read the rest of this entry »

More on the Middle East
I’ll start with the following reminder: Libya represents a small fraction of the world’s daily oil production. Do not be fooled by headlines regarding the ramblings of that maniac Gadhafi and/or which city he’s killing civilians in that day. The far more important headlines involve how major global powers are reacting to the whole situation. And, even that is only relevant as it relates to the future of Saudi Arabia and/or Iran.
